• “Yankee Joe” Lee doubles with Billings win

“Now that the baseball season is over, I can concentrate a little more on my love of amateur racing,” said “Yankee Joe” Lee, the locker room manager for the New York Yankees, after he won a North American Amateur Drivers Association (NAADA) event Thursday afternoon (Oct. 18) at Monticello Raceway. The front end was the place to be in the amateur races Thursday (Oct. 18) at Monticello Raceway, as Joe Lee and Alan Schwartz hustled their trotters to wire-to-wire victories in the fifth leg of the North American Amateur Driving Association (NAADA) Trotting Series over the Sullivan County half-mile oval.
  • Miss You Kelly is ‘just a real sweet horse’

Michael Barnard liked Sapphire Deo from the time he saw her as a yearling at Deo Volente Farms. After purchasing the filly trotter for $62,000 at the 2017 Lexington Selected Sale and changing her name to Miss You Kelly, he discovered even more reasons to like her. Miss You Kelly races Friday in the second of three Breeders Crown eliminations for 2-year-old trotting fillies at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono. Miss You Kelly has won two of six races this year. She is trained by Bruce Lauer.
